Job Duties GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of assigned vehicles and facilitates and for the health and safety of all passengers transported in the bus. Also performs general building custodial duties at the facility assigned.
TASKS AND DUTIES:
1.Conducts a walk through inspection of bus at the end of each bus route and all other trips to ensure children have departed the bus and no personnel belongings were left behind.
2.Plans and conducts Bus Evacuation Drills with Center Manager Family Services Advocate and provides bus evacuation training to parents and volunteers.
3.Provides safe transportation of children and releases them only to parent or authorized designee.
4.Conducts daily Pre and Post Trip inspections of the school bus, Daily Walk-Around Inspection and prepares and submits required reports.
5.Install appropriate Child Safety Car Seats on the bus.
6.Maintain First Aid and Bodily Fluids Kits and provides First Aid/CPR in the school bus.
7.Assists Bus Aide in maintaining roster and supervision of children.
8.Ensures staff/child ratios are maintained on the bus.
9.Prepares and submits Driver’s Vehicle Reports and Gas/Maintenance Log.
10.Transports medication and food with cook for meals for children with appointments and other activities.
11.Assists Teachers with transportation lessons and activities and provides transportation related training to bus aides, parents and volunteers.
12.Plans Bus Routes with CM and FSA to ensure timely arrival of children at the center.
13.Provides transportation for parents for attending meeting and trainings.
14.Maintains center vehicle in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and schedules vehicle for planned maintenance.
15.Assists with recruitment of children as needed.
16.Maintains agency sanitation requirements while transporting food on filed trips.
17.Stores cleaning supplies in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
18.Pick-ups, delivers, loads, unloads, and maintains inventory equipment, materials and supplies.
19.Reports maintenance related problems on the bus and center to the CM and originates purchase requisitions and purchase orders as needed for bus and facilities operations.
20.Orders custodial supplies and equipment.
21.Performs general outside maintenance .
22.Performs janitorial functions.
23.Sanitizes equipment and materials weekly and maintains logs for inspections and cleaning.
25.Assists with collection of data for the Community Assessment and participates in the Self-Assessment.
26.Serves as an information liaison between the Center Staff and the Parents.
27.Maintain MSDS records.
28.Provides input for agency budget planning and provides input for agency budget planning and procures bids as requested.
29.Actively participates in the Risk Management Program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience (6 months).
2.Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in the state of employment with the required endorsements.
3.Be at least 24 years of age.
4.Meet all Federal Drug and Alcohol testing requirements.
5.Have an insurable driving record.
6.Minimum six months experience as a school bus driver.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Experience working with children in a Head Start program or daycare setting,
2.Bilingual in English and Spanish.
3.Good oral and written communication skills.
4.General vehicle mechanical operation knowledge sufficient to identify needed service.
5.Experience preparing and submitting forms and reports.
