Job Duties OVERVIEW: Responsible for planning and implementing child development programs for a MSHS classroom that conforms with developmentally appropriate practices and meets Head Start Performance Standards, along with other federal state and local requirements.
SPECIFIC TASKS/DUTIES:
1.Ensures that all children are supervised at all times.
2.Implements a curriculum plan that supports every child’s development including child outcomes.
3.Individualizes children’s goals throughout the day and aligns individualization based on screenings and assessment and develops Weekly Lesson Plans that reflect children’s progress and individual needs.
4.Participates in the development of IEP and implements and monitors IEP in the classroom.
5.Implements and adapts intervention strategies for children and parents.
6.Conducts at least two home visits per child per phase and communicates children’s progress to parents.
7.Keeps the CDA informed related to absenteeism in the classroom and shares any information presented by the parent during home visits.
8.Conducts Daily Head to Toe Health Checklist Evaluation on children.
9.Participates in the Transition of all children,
10.Participates in the children’s meal times while providing meal service in a family style meal setting.
11.Implements hygiene practices in the classroom in accordance with policy and procedures to include role modeling.
12.Conducts safety inspection of the indoor and outdoor spaces used by children.
13.Maintains on going documentation, including assessment, on children’s progress.
14.Incorporates nutrition, health and special needs into the individualization process.
15.Supports parent’s understanding of their children’s development and participation in the Head Start program.
16.Generates and documents In-Kind.
17.Supports and encourages parent participation in program design and management.
18.Maintains children’s files, including attendance records while maintaining confidentiality of children’s records and information.
19.Assists in the recruitment of children including children with disabilities.
20.Understands and implements state licensing criteria and requirements for classroom equipment and materials.
21.Monitors developmentally appropriateness and safety of indoor and outdoor equipment and material.
22.Supports children’s understanding of fire safety and evacuation procedures.
23.Maintains classroom child/staff ratios in keeping with the highest standard.
24.Monitors arrival and departure of children for bus safety practices while assisting children into and out of the bus.
25.Releases children only to parents or authorized designee,
26.Practices and monitors facility and bus evacuation drills at different times of the day.
27.Monitors and works collaboratively with the Center Core Team to meet special transportation needs for children with disabilities.
28.Provides guidance and redirection to support a healthy learning environment for all children.
29.Reports any known and/or suspected child abuse cases to the proper authorities.
MINIMUM QUALS:
1.AA in ECE, or Child Development or a related field with experience teaching preschool children.
2.Must be at least 18 years of age.
3.Must have good PC skills and experience in word processing.
4.Ability to communicate effectively with migrant families and constituencies.
5.Good oral and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALS:
1.BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field.
2.Experience working with children in a Head Start program preferred or licensed childcare setting.
3.Bilingual in Spanish/English.
4.Experience in Spreadsheet & Database.
