Edinburg Center Maintains NAEYC Accreditation      

Edinburg, TX – The Migrant Seasonal Head Start Center in Edinburg has received notice from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) that the Center has maintained its Accreditation. The Center has maintained and engaged in continuous improvements to provide high quality care and education for the children and families it serves.

All NAEYC accredited programs are required to file Annual Reports and applicable fees on the program’s first, second, third and fourth anniversary of accreditation. Centers must report program-altering changes to the Academy within 90 days of the change during their term of accreditation. Any changes should be submitted on the NAEYC Academy Accredited Program Self Report form. Examples of such changes include, but not limited to, a change in licensing/regulatory status, serving less than 10 children, location/physical facility, ownership, additional of age groups not previously served and court orders affecting the program. Also, a Center is required to submit to additional verification by adhering to NAEYC’s Verification of Continued Program Compliance Policy and respond to formal complaints and adhere to the NAEYC’s Compliant Policy and Procedures.

Background

The NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards and Accreditation Criteria became effective September 16, 2006 and every program who applies for Accreditation is required to meet these standards. All Annual Reports submitted after September 16, 2006 must address the new standards and criteria. Unannounced visits conducted after September 16, 2006 are being conducted using the new program standards and criteria.
