Winnemucca, NV – Humboldt General Hospital’s Ambulance Barn hosted a CPR training class for parents of children that attend TMC’s Migrant Seasonal Head Start Center in Winnemucca on Tuesday, October 27, 2009.
The training was a follow-up to a training that had been held back in September. Parents were taught the basics of CPR in both English and Spanish. The parents learned the various CPR techniques such as how to provide physical intervention, how to create artificial circulation through rhythmic pressing on the patient's chest to manually pump blood through the heart, called chest compressions, and also how a rescuer exhales into a victim (using a device to simulate this) to inflate the lungs and pass oxygen in to the blood, called artificial respiration.
Ten parents whose children attend the Winnemucca Center were able to receive their CPR card. For more information contact Val Teichert – Center Manager at (775) 623-9214.
