Laredo Police Department Supports Safe Haven Program
Laredo, TX – To assist in the continuation of the Safe Haven program, the Laredo Police Department made a presentation to the Laredo-Webb County Safe Haven Program today. Police Chief Carlos Maldonado, joined by Assistant Police Chiefs Gilberto Navarro, Gabriel Martinez and Guillermo Perez, representing the Laredo Police Department made a check presentation for $10,000 to TMC to assist in the continuation of the Safe Haven program here in Webb County. The donation will be used to assist with personnel costs that allow secure supervision of the children in the program.
“The Laredo Police Department has been a key partner with TMC since we began to manage the Laredo-Webb County Safe Haven Program in 2008 by providing a secure environment to the children and families who enter our facility. We are grateful to Chief Maldonado and the Laredo Police Department for their continued support of the Safe Haven program”, stated Mary Capello – President/CEO.
Background
The Laredo-Webb County Safe Haven program assists and supports the Judicial System in Webb County, Texas with an environment that provides a child with the opportunity for a safe exchange and/or supervised visitations with his/her parents when the child (or one of the parents) is subject to situations involving domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, stalking, substance abuse, mental health problems, unsuitable visitation standards, uncooperative parent.
The goal of the Laredo-Webb County Safe Haven is to provide the child with a safe place where children can interact with their non-custodial parents without the fear of being the subject of aggression and/or violence, usually emanating from divorce or custody disputes.
