Policy Council Welcomes New Members Appoints Officers for 2010
Laredo, TX – The Policy Council of TMC’s Migrant Seasonal Head Start program held their regular meeting on Thursday, January 8, 2009 in Laredo, TX.
The TMC Policy Council consists of eighteen members (18) from the eight states where TMC has centers, one board liaison, plus five community representatives representing the Wintergarden region, the Valley region, the Indiana region, the Western region, the Ohio region and UMOS Wisconsin Delegate agency.
The Policy Council welcomed new members Blanca Ramirez representing the Indiana Region migrant parent; Ana Artiaga representing the Wintergarden Region migrant parent; Michelle Contreras representing the Rio Grande Valley Region migrant parent; Nydia Palomo representing the Wintergarden Region seasonal parent; Matilde Gutierrez representing the Rio Grande Valley Region migrant parent; Odalis Zuniga representing the Rio Grande Valley Region migrant parent; Angel Gonzalez representing the Rio Grande Valley Region migrant parent; Elizabeth Ibarra representing the Rio Grande Valley Region seasonal parent; Maria Barrientez representing the Western Region migrant parent; Ismael Perez representing the Ohio Region migrant parent; Marta Soto representing the Ohio Region seasonal parent (Willard, OH center); and, Luis Degollado representing the UMOS Delegate Agency migrant parent.
At this meeting, the Policy Council elected a new slate of officers for 2010. Elected to the leadership of the Council is Maria Rios - President from the Wintergarden Region; LeeAnn Benavides - Vice-President from the Wintergarden Region; Karla Valdez - Treasurer from the Rio Grande Valley Region; Raul Alvarez - Sergeant at Arms from the Wintergarden Region and Cristina Perez -Secretary from the Wintergarden Region.
